World Pink: KL Tower Illumination Ceremony

Did you notice that little update on my Twitter about the KL Tower going Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month? Well, I thought it was just gonna have pink lights but as it turns out, the entire tower turned Pink! I didn't even know that there'd be a ceremony for the illumination until I actually got to tower (Although I've been living in Malaysia for the past 21 years, I've never been to the KL Tower. I still haven't been UP the KL Tower!). The event was organized by the Estee Lauder Companies' Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2008. I was a self-invited guests but since it was raining cats and dogs and turtles and lizards, we got to "go home" with an adorable Pink umbrella. KL Tower will be Pink for the rest of October 2008 so do catch a glimpse of it when you have the chance! Also, for this month, wear a Pink ribbon to show your support when you're visiting KL Tower and you will receive a 50% off the entry fees. According to my calculations, that should be RM5 for MyKad holders and RM10 for foreigners.

Connie going pink for the night!

Read on to know what else went on and for more pictures! FOTD and description of items used as well.

The cremony started with two awesome base-jumpers jumping off the KL Tower (if it was me, I'd be crapping in my pants) and handing a torch to the breast cancer survivors. After that, necks were strained as we all look up to the tower and await the illumination of the KL Tower. There were more stuff happening scheduled for the invited guests (which included people from ministries and organizations, celebrities and media) so since we weren't part of that, we made a quiet leave before the jam started. Guests got goodie bags with perfume for the men and makeup palette for the ladies! *sighs*

Look how high up he is.

hayley: awh... it's alright. At least there are pictures. The pink was lovely. And I truly did not expect the entire tower to be pink.

Nikki: It's part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign by Estee Lauder Companies. I think every year they would illuminate a particular Malaysian landmark. Last year was a shopping mall if I'm not mistaken.

Plue: Thanks, dear :) I very seldom wear pink though. It's not really my color.

Dor: Sure! I'd love to share that.

pretty: Thanks a lot! :)

Tine: cool eh? I kept on deciding the colors of the lights... if they were pink or purple... and then the whole tower turned pink. lol. it was really pretty.

evon: Lol. Thanks!

Chian Li: Thanks :) I'll definitely do that but not too soon as I have many more posts lined up.
