Past MAC Collections: Eyeshadow and Pigment Swatches + Color Talk

Yeah, I'm just showing off. Hehe. I acquired a couple of MAC Eyeshadow products from collections that were out around end of last year. Since these are pretty much "old stuff", I'll be rambling the most part of this post. Maybe you'd find some useful info in here. After all, MAC loves to repromote their colors and such. Featured in this post will be the Intriguing Scarlet: 6 Warm Eyes palette, Little Darlings 5 Warm Pigments/Glitter set, and a Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo.

Enjoy the swatches and color talk!

Unlike the usual plastic packaging, the Intriguing Scarlet palette has a metal casing that is to die for! I love the red and that huge rhinestone -- I feel a class higher just having this palette. Inside, well, not that amazing but quite practical. The colors are very normal but they're versatile, thus, it became my travel palette. You can easily come up with five to six looks with this.

Sweetjoy (Frost): Very basic highlight color that's not chunky frosty
Warm Suede (Veluxe Pearl): Mossy green with some sort of a pewter sheen
Well Spiced (Satin): A warm orangey brown. Quite a good color to warm up the eyes
Gentle Heat (Satin): Dull taupe color. This color's good for contouring the crease.
Real Drama (Satin): Deep maroon. Pretty color but also a tad dull.
Grand Entrance (Satin): Deep green used for smoking.

I love pigments because the colors tend to be unique and they'll last you a lifetime. The Little Darlings Warm Pigments set comes with four pigments and a glitter, store in glass vials as opposed to the plastic tubs that the full-sized pigments are stored in. I'm not a big fan of the vial because it's not easy to use having such a small opening, but it also means that there's less risk of flying and spilling pigments. Higher risk of breaking the vial though! I've been wanting Melon for a very long time and as expected, I love it! And another favorite from this set would be Gold Dusk.

Look at them looking oh-so-cute and beautiful together. There's so much gold to go around, I don't think I'll need to be buying any more gold shadows for awhile.

Gold Mode: A pinky frost gold. It's alright. Not really my color
Reflects Antique Gold: This glitter is quite different than the ones that I've come across because it's very fine, making the glitter quite easy to apply. I'm waiting to do a look with this glitter
Gold Dusk: Soft golden yellow. You know how Vanilla is one of the must have pigments for highlight? Well, if you have a more tanned skin tone, Gold Dusk would work a lot better
Melon: It's a warm gold with a sheen of peach. Such a lovely color!
Gold Stroke: I don't see the gold but it's a plum shade that goes well with gold

I also grabbed a Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo in Love Connection

The top portion is a frosty white with some pink and bronze veins while the bottom portion is a bronze. The texture feels sorta like pressed pigments due to the shimmer but the shimmers come out very sparse so they don't work too well as main colors. However, I find that these are excellent blending colors since they're sheer. Kinda like when you have difficulty blending your shadows but you don't want to look like they've just ended past your crease and bringing up the color too high would make it look too much? I hope you catch what I'm trying to say O_O Maybe I'll show it in a video some time and you might get what I mean.

They look concentrated here but once you blend, the colors will go sheer.

MAC to me is basically its Pigments. And I am liking your Reflects Antique Gold a lot. I think I will have to try to get it.

This is a great post. I don't care if the products aren't new. Old stuff also deserve our love.

I recently swapped for another old Stila Blush duo as I find Stila blushes work better for me than its eye shadows. Anyway, that was also old but I will do a post on it nevertheless. Maybe someone out there try to swap for it will have a better idea. :)

Hi Connie, no prob about the questions lol. Can the file be a PSD? Because I don't have Illustrator but I can save as a PSD image. Those measurements also seem a bit screwy :/ Does this guy know what he's talking about? Lol.

Erynn: You're the best! He said PSD is fine too but it has to be 300DPI, cmyk color. that was the measurement he gave me 89mm x 55mm. He sent me a sample if that would help :-/ could you e-mail me (I can't find your email add) if you'd like to have a look at it I can send it to ya

O in the cbox it said 5mm lol I was so confused like WTH lol xD Well... I can save the files as PSD but I'm using Paintshop NOT Photoshop so I can only split the image into CMYK channels for him to use as color separations. I will have to make a new card with the correct size first though. My email is ec_tini@hotmail.com I'd like to see the template please (:
