Stage Cosmetics is a homegrown Malaysian brand that is steadily rising in the cosmetic scene, local and international, offering a full range of makeup products with competitive prices. I was given the chance to try out several of their bestselling products.First to be reviewed is Stage Drama Lash Amplifying Mascara with a few words from mascara expert, Andrew aka The Boyfriend.
Some guys are into legs, some into asses. Mine's into lashes (besides boobs, that is). It has come to a point where I'd ask (and trust) his opinion on how my lashes look. Mind you, he can be brutally honest! In fact, that's the only makeup I wear that he'd actually look at me first before responding. Classmates and friends too have been victimized by his lash criticisms. His few words may not be technically correct and comprehensive so I'll still be writing this review.
The black mascara tube is very basic but the wand that pops out of it is not quite normal. On one side, the bristles are short and looks kinda spiral. On another, the more spiky bristles decrease in length as they slope towards the tip. The spiral side fits comfortably onto the base of the lashes to pump up the volume while the spiky side lengthens and separates. The narrow tip allows small lashes and tight areas to be easily reached. Even the out most corner lashes can be coated without having to dislocate my wrist. If there was only one word to describe this brush design, it would be "Genius". I've never seen another mascara with such a wand and none that's as effective.
Let's go through some of Andrew's words describing how this mascara looks on my lashes..- "Up": Curls nicely
- "OK Long": Long but not audaciously
- "Crispy": Doesn't look smooth
- "Many": Separates well
My usual mascara combo comprises of Maybelline Turbo Boost and Majolica Majorca Frame Plus. My first time using this, I was over the moon because it seemed that I've discovered my two favorite mascaras in one tube. Unfortunately, after wearing it for a full day and several tries later, it really was too good to be true. The formula creates tiny clumps around individual lashes thus making them look "crispy". The "crispiness" could be felt from touching the stiff lashes. As the day goes, those clumps will start to flake off and the tip of the lashes will curl downwards. Removing this waterproof formula can be equally as painful as removing Majolica so you can be assured of no smudging.
Stage Drama Lash has the potential of being one of my favorite mascaras ever but the formula needs some tweaking first. Regardless, I'll still be reaching for this mascara a lot in hope that nobody stands close enough to scrutinizingly inspect my lashes. Retails for RM50 at Stage outlets.

definitely crispy! i hate crispy mascara, esp when everything else about it is good=/ maybelline lash stiletto is very crispy as well, even tho it lengthens great=/
it looks too messy on you! i think you look better with other mascsara seriously. i can't handle spider web like mascara. sorry.
I need to get my hands on Stage! I keep seeing it on your blog, and you have me looking at the website all the time :)
yeah it definitely looks "crispy" on you!! What a shame though... it sounds like a pretty decent one from what you've said! :D
HAHAHAHA what a word to describe - crispy. next time connie, when i see u, can i say: wah yr lashes so crispy lah! hehehe

hhahaha! i loved the boyfriends input and your translations ;)
P-ham: *sighs* I know. I'm still looking for that PERFECT mascara.
jojoba: Thankfully, it's not so noticeable from a far. But up close, yeah! It looks pretty messy!
Fantastic: I'm still new to brand but I'm quite excited to see what the brand has to offer :D
Jenn: I know! Huge shame. Who know's maybe they'll reformulate and steam instead of deep fry?
Pretty: Ooh, I've never tried Stage blushers. I saw them the other day but not so keen on the colors and finish :-/ But the lipglosses look insanely gorgeous! I bought two :D
Nikki: I think I've done that before too!! LOL! Yes, so many lashes! That's one thing I love about the mascara. it separates so well! Coats after coats and my lashes don't stick together
Kia: Lol! I should get him to review my mascaras more often
LOL andrew's description is superfunny i cud die!
n good review tho..i liked fact it volumises n lengthens..but the cripsiness will weigh down d lashes n also makes it look unnatural..
yeah, plenty of mascaras lenghten, they do! but in the end the fibre flakes off into the eye. and some clumps up badly at the tip, creating spidery 'long' lashes. not pleasing to the eye.
i was excited to try this out till i read the end of your review. my bare lashes themselves can fall into my eyes without me touching them, i wonder how much the flakes will irritate me. T_T
lol at Andrew's comments, he say until your lashes like cornflake like that! crispy and flakes! hahahahaha~
