Let's answer the fundamental question:"Why use a cream eyeshadow?"
Cream eyeshadows are not the easiest to work with compared to powder eyeshadows especially for a novice. Unless you have dexterous blending abilities, cream eyeshadows usually don't look good when used alone. So why use 'em?
If you want your eyeshadow to look sharp and vibrant the entire day, cream eyeshadows (besides an eyeshadow primer, of course) will help you with that. They make excellent color bases to enhance the eyeshadow colors that you layer on top and prevent fading. At least good ones do.
One of my favorite cream eyeshadows is the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner. Read on for the review and swatches...
A year ago, I was totally gushing over my very first Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Stiletto. Here's a happy update; it's still creamy even though the sides have separated from the jar's wall. Unlike my favorite MAC Rollickin' Paint Pot that's getting dry and chunky *sighs*. My Strut looks funky in the jar because it melted during shipping from the US and hardened back by the time it got to me. Still usable and d(c)reamy though :DSince then, I've gotten two more shades in Sippin' n Dippin' and Strut:
Sippin' n Dippin': Pale peach with golden sheen. This is a gorgeous color BUT it comes out sorta pastel which is not good for dry/flakey lids. Supposedly a limited edition shade but it's still on the Benefit website
Strut: Dark bluish grey with silver sheen. I use this as a base for black/grey smokey eyes or duochrome colors. It looks great as an eyeliner too. I don't see this color on the website anymore so I assume that it's discontinued. Quite ridiculous really, since that's like the only dark shade they had
I personally prefer these over MAC Paint Pots because they are creamier, much easier to blend and they stay put for hours without creasing [refer to this post!]. What's bugging me is the poor selection of shades. There are currently 13 (neutral) shades on the website and 10 of them look pretty much the same... If Benefit actually comes up with a color that's similar to Rollickin', I'll get it in a heartbeat. Heck, I wouldn't even hesitate if they make a green one. The only other colors that I may consider getting next are Skinny Jeans and Busy Signal.

The Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner is RM85 in Malaysia's Benefit counters but the last time I checked was a year ago. I think the price has increased so do correct me if you know the current price. I generally would not suggest people to purchase Benefit products locally when the International website carries these cream shadows for USD$19, ships to Malaysia and, occasionally has sale and free shipping promotions. They're worth the wait when a jar can go down to as low as RM54. Their international shipping rates aren't ridiculously high to begin with either.

these are some of the best non-creasing cream shadows i have tried. however, like you said, why CREAM? well, i have passed that stage and now really, I will say, WHY CREAM? i am sticking to powder and pigments now due to convenient. cream ones are just too much hassle for me. besides, i hate opening jars after jars just to lay colours.
nevertheless, if you want a NEUTRAL cream shadow, BeneFit has the best choices IMO. But if you are looking for something more fun, try Shiseido instead. Shiseido offers more bright colours and just as lasting.
strut's discontinued? glad I bought one when I did then! skinny jeans seems to be a really popular one too :) I love using Busy Signal as a base for neutral/taupe shadows - and it makes for a nice wash of color on my lids when I don't have a lot of time to get ready!
i also have one in pre-nup. got it as point collecting reward and it is amazing, it stay put and wont crease up to 10+ hours.cuz i have long working hours, nad i usually dont have time to touch up on my make up, so these ones are really good~~they are def better than mac paintpot, just like u said its creamier, and less prone to creasing
Great review Connie!! :D Strut looks amazing... what a pity its discontinued!! :(
Yeah i'll never buy Benefit at the local counters too!! Too expensive. Now the website's having this get $25 off your $100 order offer now samore. Soooo tempting!!! >.<
i love benefit's cream e/s! it works great alone on my sister's eyes though. i guess it's b/c of the type of eyes she has. for me, it'll crease if i use it alone but still, i love them!
jojoba: Thanks for the rec! Honestly, i've never really looked into Shiseido's products so I'm not quite sure what they have to offer. But I'll keep those cream shadows in mind the next time I happen to be at a shiseido counter
Mayaari: I must really get my hands on Busy Signal and Skinny Jeans then! :D
Jessy: Paint Pot's quality is inconsistent, I find. Some colors are better than others. And they crease without a primer
Jenn: tempting!! but I'll probably wait til they have friends and family sale. no hurry ;)
Chommie: cool that they're working for your sister :D have you tried using an eyeshadow primer underneath?
Benefit's website ship international!! that's nice to know! most cosmetic online stores don't ship international. It's ridiculous that cosmetic products cost at 2x as much when they arrive australia and the only time I can get better deal is going overseas.
I'm sucker for cream eyeshadows. I almost always use them as a base for my pigments. Now I just have to try Benefit ones. :)
I like Benefit cream eyeshadow too, but I love long wear cream eyeshadow from Bobby Brown even more, is somehow cremier and also doesn't crease. But BB has the same problem as Benefit, the color range is too 'neutral'for my liking:(, although the navy blue one is really pretty:) I'm still waiting for cream eyeshadow with huge color range like Paint Pot, quality from BB or Benefit and price from jumbo pencil from NYX *lol*
Strut looks very pretty, it's too bad it was discounted. I'm curious to try them after haring so many good things about them but the poor color selection is putting me off. As you know, I love bright shade and these come mostly in neutral colors which I don't find very appealing. They should really release more colorful shades of these.
love the colors you have!!!
I've been awnting to try this! Good thing they last longer than MAC's PP - I hear MAC might be dicontinuing them? Sad there's only neutral shades though. Hope they come out with more shades!
Coco: the markup's insane! even more so in Australia. Thank goodness Benefit ships overseas
Gejba: I'm a huge sucker for cream shadows too. these a great! I think you'll love them too :)
Chloevien: Ooohh... yes... Bobbi Brown. I've never thought about them! Should check them out too. Ah, don't we all wish the same! I'm very bummed that NYX Jumbo pencils crease madly on me or they would've made great alternatives
Gio: yeah! they really should consider coming up with brighter shades
lilluna: I love them too! Well, except for Sippin and Dippin. not a right color for me
Dee: Wow, discontinuing? That sucks!
thanks !!!great posting...it is really good
